Get Answers to Your Questions About Solar

Does solar energy work in the Pacific Northwest?

Absolutely! You can meet some or all of your electricity needs with solar power in Western Washington. The long, mild summers offset cloudy winter days, making solar highly effective.

What are the environmental benefits of solar power?

Solar can help the U.S. avoid millions of tons of CO2 emissions and thousands of adverse health events annually. Compared to electricity from coal, solar produces 96-98% less greenhouse gases. Solar energy has minimal impact on land, water, and air quality.

What are the financial incentives for solar energy?

Solar offers financial benefits, including:

  • 30% federal tax credit for businesses
  • Net metering
  • State sales tax exemption
  • Accelerated depreciation for businesses

Does solar add value to my home?

Yes—solar is one of the best home improvement investments for increasing value.

How long does a solar energy system last?

Most modules come with a 25-year warranty and can last 30–40+ years. Inverters are covered for 10–25 years. Artisan Electric provides a 25-year workmanship and performance guarantee.  If an issue arises with any aspect of our electrical or mechanical work, give us a call.

How much maintenance does my solar system require?

Minimal maintenance is needed. An annual cleaning is recommended, and Artisan Electric offers maintenance services and repairs at no cost under warranty.

What are the requirements for my roof?

Solar can be installed on nearly any roof. Flat, metal, and composition roofs are easiest, while cedar shake and steep pitches may require additional work. If your roof needs replacement within 10 years, do so before installing solar.

What if I don’t want solar on my house?

Ground-mounted solar panels are a great alternative, especially for properties with space or challenging roof conditions. Ground mounts can be more efficient and are ideal for large energy demands.

Who handles permits and rebate paperwork?

Artisan Electric manages all fees, permits, and paperwork for you.

Is financing available for solar?

Yes, financing is available through local credit unions with $0 down loans. Most customers use Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union (PSCCU).

How long does installation take?

One to five days based on system size and complexity.

Are your workers licensed? Do you use subcontractors?

All installations are performed by licensed journeyman electricians and electrical apprentices. Subcontractors are used only for specialized tasks outside solar work.

Will Artisan help with DIY solar?
