What Labor Day Means To Us - Seattle, WA - Artisan Electric

Labor Day is not just another 3-day weekend.
We tend to overlook the meanings of holidays when they mean long weekends. But Labor Day celebrates one of the most important advancements in American history.

Why Do We Celebrate Labor Day?

Labor Day is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers, according to the US Department of Labor. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

Artisan Electric Inc. is proud to be the only Union solar contractor in the Puget Sound Region.

What Labor Day Means To Be Union

Artisan was founded by Jason Williams, a Union journeyman electrician who has always believed in the highest quality standards and treatment of his employees. To this day we are proud members of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 46 hall.

Under the IBEW, workers can bargain collectively with employers over wages, benefits, and rights.

Through collective bargaining, our electricians receive (according to the Utility Workers Union of America – UWUA):

  • Consistently higher wages than open-shop electricians
  • Greater job stability in slow seasons
  • Guaranteed pension
  • Competitive medical and dental care benefits (covering an average of 83% of healthcare costs for employees and their families)
  • Greater attention to workplace safety
  • Constant representation and community

Their standards are high. We rely on the IBEW to develop a properly vetted, trained, and experienced workforce.

High Standards = High Quality For The Customer

When your electricians are protected, supported and highly trained, you know the quality of our work is unmatched.

In addition, IBEW Local 46 offers a generous $500 rebate for customers installing any solar system larger than 5 kilowatts (kW).

Plus, your solar energy system is guaranteed by IBEW for five years. This means that if we were to go out of business (don’t worry, we don’t foresee this happening), your solar system or electrical work will still be supported by the Union for five years.

Do You Want To Become An IBEW Electrician?

Union electricians are in high demand – we’re always looking for skilled union workers to join our team! To learn more about living wages, benefits, and other rights, visit the IBEW Local 46 website.

Don’t Let The Name Fool You; Women Are Important For The IBEW

While men still outnumber women in the electrical industry, the number of women becoming electricians is growing, and we hope this continues. At Artisan Electric, our female electricians are integral to our success. We proudly ensure an environment that supports women’s rights and advancement in this field and strongly encourage women to apply. You are welcome and wanted here!
